“The One who attempts to act and do things for others or for the world without deepening Their own self-understanding, freedom, integrity and capacity to love, will not have anything to give others. They will communicate to others nothing but the contagion of their own obsessions, their aggressiveness, their ego-centered ambitions, Their delusions about ends and means, Their doctrinaire prejudices and ideas.”
How is it with your soul?
As a spiritual leader or clergyperson, perhaps you are so often consumed with caring for others that you neglect your own spiritual and physical health and well-being and then feel shame for doing so. It can become a vicious cycle. You may also struggle with feeling selfish when you care for your own continued spiritual growth and journey, yet none of us can give what we do not have and none of us can lead others on a journey we haven’t taken. Self care is not a luxury; it is a necessity.
Do you feel lonely, exhausted, and discouraged? Do you have private struggles that are affecting your work, your family, and your health and wellbeing? This is a safe place where you can attend to your own soul with a caring professional.

A leader is a person who must take special responsibility for what’s going on inside him- or herself, inside his or her consciousness, lest the act of leadership create more harm than good. – Parker Palmer
